HMS Ark Royal

The kit consists of 36 parts of resin and metal components. Includes 10 assorted Hero’s of Italy crew figures and the Vickers deck tractor. NOTE: the Phantom & Buccaneer models are not included and can be purchased separately. The Phantom FG.1 kit number 144030 and the Buccaneer S.Mk.2 kit number 144032 are compatible with the Ark Deck, as both have separate flaps to model in the take off mode.

The base is cast in high quality resin 5mm in depth, dimensions being 7” X 5” approx 175mm X 125mm approx. Metal blast doors and fixings/

The kit can be assembled with SLO-Zap Slow Cure or similar, as well as twin pack Epoxy Resin.

The decal gives the modeller two options for the catapult display, the Bow catapult or Mid Waist catapult. If modelling Bow catapult then refer to the Ark Royal assembly guide. If the preference is for the waist catapult then some minor adjustments/filler are required.

McDonnell-Douglas Royal Navy Phantom FGR.1

This is a new complete master with separate flaps to the front and trailing edges of the main wings, plus a positional tailplane enabling the modeller to display the model in landing/take off configuration. The sprues containing the separate flaps are marked P (port) S (starboard).

The kit has 55+ resin parts and a one piece clear resin canopy.

CAUTIONARY NOTE: Release the canopy from the main casting block then gradually trim to fit, part of the clear resin canopy forms into the spine.  A template is enclosed to assist with positioning the angles of the flaps.

NOTE: the belly tank has two holes to the rear, the updated version had finlets use stretch sprue or brass rod if modelling the latter.

The decal sheet gives the modeller a choice of four naval squadrons, NASU (Naval Air Support Unit) -767 – 892 squadron & PP-OCU (Phantom Post-Operational Conversion Unit) see colour profile sheet. Applying the numerous maintenance/data markings see stencil placement sheet.
